Police: Two Different Letters in Vartic Case

Police clarify Ludmila Vartic case: Two different letters identified in investigation

Moldova’s General Police Inspectorate (IGP) has issued clarifications following the circulation of an alleged farewell note linked to Ludmila Vartic’s death. Authorities stated that the document made public does not match the letter found on the day of her death, confirming that two separate written materials are part of the case file.

According to investigators, one of the documents was submitted by the victim’s husband, who currently holds the status of suspect in the ongoing criminal investigation.

Officials noted that both documents — the one circulating publicly and the one recovered earlier — have been included in the case file. Forensic examinations have been ordered to determine their authenticity and to clarify all relevant circumstances.

Police and prosecutors emphasized that all investigative actions are being carried out in strict accordance with the law, aiming to fully establish the facts surrounding the case. Due to the ongoing nature of the investigation, certain details cannot be disclosed at this stage.

Authorities also urged the public to avoid speculation and to rely solely on verified information.

Ludmila Vartic died by suicide on March 3, with public allegations suggesting possible domestic abuse. She worked as a kindergarten educator in Hîncești and was the mother of two children.

Her husband, Dumitru Vartic, has denied all accusations, calling them unfounded, and previously filed a complaint with authorities. The investigation remains ongoing.
